Program Dates - 2025

  • Monday, January 27 - Application deadline (5:00 PM EST)
  • No later than March 31- Notification of admission
  • Saturday, May 31 - Student Arrival
  • Sunday, June 1 - Residential orientation begins
  • Monday, June 2 - Laboratory orientation begins
  • Wednesday, August 6 - Bar Harbor Summer Symposium poster session
  • Thursday, August 7 - Summer Symposium presentations and graduation
  • Friday, August 8 - Student Departure

Fellowship Details

Fellowship components are the same for both campuses unless otherwise noted.

Stipend

$6,500

Duration

10 weeks (1 week of orientation and training, 8 weeks in lab, 1 week wrap-up).

Travel

Round trip airfare or mileage.

Room

Mix of doubles, triples, quads

Board

Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

Daily transportation

Connecticut - Daily van transportation to laboratory is provided.

Maine - Students walk or bicycle to the laboratory except when raining. Transportation is also provided to students requiring mobility assistance.

Bicycles

Recommended; are not provided by JAX.

Work hours

Regular work hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. These hours may vary given individual research goals, experimental schedules, etc.

Weekends

Generally reserved for formal and informal group outings and recreation.

Sponsored trip

Joint campus Retreat at Medomak Family Camp in Washington, ME, June 20-22, 2025.

Restrictions

Students must not hold other jobs or internships during the program.
