Educational training programs offer opportunities for early career researchers as they begin and progress in their cancer-related careers. Our clinically-oriented and translational educational activities expose basic scientists to core concepts in cancer medicine and train oncologists and related clinicians in the tenets of genomic sciences relevant to their clinical practice.
The JAX Cancer Research Training & Education Coordination Core (CRTEC) ensures trainees and junior faculty have access to education and mentoring opportunities that will support them in developing the skills necessary to become leaders in cancer research.
We create opportunities for dialog between basic research, translational and clinical scientists and provide basic researchers with the translational and clinical perspective necessary to identify and tackle the areas of greatest need for fundamental, mechanistic research.
JAX’s cancer courses, workshops and online training tools provide educational experiences for trainees through junior faculty to foster continuous, life-long learning.
Graduate Students and Post-doctoral fellows have the opportunity to join the Cancer Center as Associate Trainee members. The CRCE provides personalized training and mentoring guidance. Interested in joining JAX as Trainee?
Including our flagship Summer Student Program, JAX offers opportunities for academic year research, teacher professional development, and the Maine State Science Fair.
The CRCE facilitates mentor training and research leadership training. For Trainees each year we offer The Whole Scientist™ career development and exploration course.
The Maine Cancer Genomics Initiative (MCGI) is an alliance of Maine oncology providers led by The Jackson Laboratory with funding from the Harold Alfond™ Foundation. Its primary goal is to reduce disparities in access to advanced technologies for cancer care and precision medicine.
A free, two-week virtual course for undergraduate students to learn about foundational concepts in cancer genomics and its impact on cancer diagnosis and treatment.
