Louisa Wang, Ph.D.

Scientific Investigator

Leads the design, development, and delivery of gene editing and gene replacement therapeutics for rare genetic diseases.

Louisa specializes in gene editing therapy development with expertise in neurodegenerative disease research. With over a decade of translational research leadership experience, including nearly five years at Sarepta Therapeutics, she has advanced next-generation therapeutics and achieved measurable improvements in editing efficacy. She is passionate about applying cutting-edge technologies to bring meaningful treatments to rare disease communities.

Louisa received her B.S. in biomedical sciences from Western University. She then studied gene editing and target discovery in Alzheimer’s disease for her graduate work at the University of Toronto. Following a research fellowship in rare disease gene therapy and AI-based drug discovery, Louisa joined Sarepta Therapeutics where she led the neurology gene editing platform and oversaw a portfolio of three major R&D programs spanning therapy development, platform innovation, and off-target assessments. In addition to her current role at JAX, Louisa is pursuing her MBA at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
