Jennifer Myers SanMiguel, Ph.D., is a Senior Study Director at The Jackson Laboratory’s Rare Disease Translational Center, where she leads preclinical studies using patient-specific mouse models to evaluate gene therapy, antisense oligonucleotides, and gene editing approaches. Her current portfolio spans numerous neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative, and epilepsy disorders. She collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to accelerate the development of treatments for these rare genetic disorders.
She earned her B.A. in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience from Colby College and began her research career at Boston Children’s Hospital, studying Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other rare neuromuscular disorders. Dr. SanMiguel completed her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on epigenetic regulation, specifically in genomic imprinting, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at The Jackson Laboratory, where she investigated inflammatory signaling in hematopoiesis and blood cancer.
Her work has been recognized with several honors, including the Patient First Science Award and the American Society of Hematology Fellow Scholar Award.
