Anil Akturk, Ph.D.

Study Director

Directs rare disease translational programs in neurodevelopmental and neuromuscular disorders.

Anil specializes in structural, developmental, molecular, and cellular biology, applying over a decade of experience to connect foundational science with translational outcomes. With ongoing neurodevelopmental disorder programs spanning novel model generation and characterization to IND-enabling studies, he is dedicated to turning complex biological questions into clear therapeutic possibilities and advancing solutions for patients living with rare diseases.

Anil earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Sabanci University in Turkey. Anil then specialized in biochemical, structural, and cellular biology of ubiquitination pathway modification at Cornell University for his graduate work prior to joining the JAX Rare Disease Translational Center as a Study Director.
